Hour Practice

There is a motto that says "practice makes perfect" but the better is idea is that you ""practice until you can't mess it up". Whether you like the first one or the last one many people struggle with hos to practice outside of your lessons. My rule of thumb for beginner's is to practice twice as long as you have lesson for. Many beginners start with 45 -60 minutes lesson a week so you need to practice twice that much prior to your next lesson. If you have the time, then the next step is to make it as efficient as possible. Here is breakdown from Maura Garuccio on what an hour practice should look like.

Stretching before the practice

15 min warm up

15 minutes or focusing on a specific dance

15 application of one concepts on similar dance

15 min rounds

Always practice with music!

Even know you are trying to perfect your technique you also have to figure out how much time you have or when to do a specific movement or action!

So Always practice with music!

This makes each practice efficient and always providing you an opportunity to practice what you have been taught, the routine, and work on stamina for your dancing.
